Who We Are (Our Story)

The Astronomy Club is more than just a company, it is a community of Astronomy Enthusiasts who believe that the wonders of the Universe should be accessible to everyone. Think of Astronomy not just as a science, but as a source of endless wonder and inspiration. It is like a cosmic glue that brings people together, no matter where they come from, all because we share a burning passion for the stars.

But our story is no ordinary tale. It is a story fueled by passion, resilience, and an unwavering belief in the magic of Astronomy to inspire and connect us all. Picture this: It all began with our founder, Samuel, who at a young age - in 1990, developed an immense love for observing the night sky handed down from his parents. His dream? To spread that love for the stars and give everyone a chance to unite around Astronomy.

In 2021 Samuel, having a strong Computer Science background and love of Astronomy decided to realize his childhood dream and founded the Astronomy Club with a team ready to conquer the Universe. Since then, the Astronomy Club has been committed to perfecting offerings, ensuring an accessible and modern experience for our students and community.

Samuel, being Armenian, initiated the first pilot chapter in Armenia, inviting a strong team of local leaders actively engaged in socializing Astronomy locally. Together with the HQ team, they continue achieving high-quality results!

What We Do

At our Astronomy Club, we have a great mix of learning and fun activities weekly on a regular basis for everyone who loves stars and Space. Our Members get to learn about all sorts of directions like the history of the Universe, how light works, and how to take pictures of the night sky and deep-sky objects.

We also go on cool trips to look at the stars, visit planetariums to watch astronomical movies, and go see big telescopes at observatories. Plus, we go to museums to learn about Space history and meet Astronomers who tell us about stars and planets in much more detail. All this provides wonderful entertainment and equips you with new knowledge about the endless Universe.

How We Operate

Our organizational structure comprises a dynamic blend of central coordination and local engagement. We use Agile methodology and leverage our knowledge in the software development field to make all our processes smooth, structured and productive.

Headquarter:

At the heart of our operations lies the Headquarter based in the US, where we develop our platform, strategic decisions, set policies, and provide overall direction to the entire organization to expand.

The Astronomy Club has chapters worldwide. Our team at the Headquarter ensures that every chapter is set up and maintained efficiently like a branch, allowing Local Leaders to focus on their astronomical pursuits and empowering them with tools and cutting-edge methodology.

Chapters:

Chapters are the backbone of our Astronomy Club, spread across cities all over the world. Each chapter is led by passionate Local Leaders, Educators, Mentors, and Partners who work collaboratively to create a thriving Astronomy community within their region.

Local Leaders are the driving force behind each chapter, like directors of branches, responsible for its operations, recruitment, and community engagement. They are supported by dedicated local teachers, mentors, and partners who share their love for the cosmos.

This dynamic structure enables us to expand our reach and bring the wonders of the Universe closer to people from diverse backgrounds and locations. While having freedom to adjust with features of different local communities, they always stay loyal to the Club’s overall mission. Chapters work closely with the Headquarter to confirm we’re all on the same page.
